Come to our Holiday Cookie / Recipe Swap

recipeThe Blanchard Public Library points toward the holidays with a community Holiday Recipe Swap at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

It’s a chance for sharing favorite holiday treats and the recipes that created them, and participants are asked if possible to bring samples of the items they’re most proud of.

And as a bonus, retired library staff member Gay Looney will be back in the building to lead to program, giving a demonstration on the steps to making easy microwave fudge!.

Registration is required to get an accurate count of those planning to attend. The program is for adults ages 18 and up.

Use an old pair of jeans to create something new

jeansThat old pair of jeans that really can’t be worn anymore can still find a new use, and the Blanchard Public Library is showing teens how in its Crafting Old Jeans program, at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at the library!

Teens ages 12 to 17 are invited to learn about and create one of several items from old jeans, including Christmas ornaments, bags, phone covers, pocket organizers and more.

There will be supplies provided, although participants may bring their own old jeans to recycle for use in the program – with their mother’s approval, of course.

Registration is required to attend. Make something old look like brand new again! 

Find activity and learning after school

kidsThe Blanchard Public Library is active after school with a pair of upcoming programs inside the library! 

Tweens ages 8 to 12 are invited to experiment with K’Nex, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1. The K’Nex kits have a variety of features, from levers, pulleys, wheels and axles, inclined planes and more, as students get to learn some basic building and engineering concepts. Registration is not requiped for this program

The focus shifts to younger children in pre-K through 2nd grades at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, for the library’s Afterschool Kids group. This month, participants will get to show their creativity while learning some basics about painting! Supplies are limited, so registration is required for this program.


Yoga in the Park moving indoors to the library

YogaThe Blanchard Public Library welcomes the local Yoga in the Park group to come in from the cold and continue its free community classes in the fall and winter months.

The group has been meeting outside, but the first sessions inside the library’s Community Room will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays the library is open, beginning next Monday, Nov. 9 and continuing for the next several months.

All classes are provided free of charge and registration is not required, but a waiver and release of claim for must be signed before classes by participants. The classes are for ages 18 and up.

Family Story Times presented throughout November

FamilyThe Blanchard Public Library presents family-friendly activities, learning and fun at its weekly Family Story Time for children and their families, with November events taking place at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 30. And, families can return for a special Saturday version of the event at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

The program's agenda will include stories, songs, rhymes, music, crafts, sensory activities and more.

Registration is not required to attend any of the story times.
