Group presents a musical tribute to “Queen of the Blues”

Musical scaleNorman Public Library West welcomes the talents of Ebony Voices for the group’s concert “Singing Sad: The Life of Dorothy Ellis,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at the library.

The event will take a look back at the lady known as Oklahoma’s “Queen of the Blues.” Ebony Voices will perform songs that honor the life of Ellis, who performed for more than 75 years in an illustrious musical career.

Ebony Voices is a storytelling unit of Rhythmically Speaking that incorporates music and womanly style in the telling of stories from the perspective of women.

Their concert is offered for all ages, and no advance registration is required to attend.
