Song and sound are a part of the atmosphere inside Norman Public Library West, with several musical offerings taking place during October.
A featured monthly favorite is Lunch and Listen, scheduled at noon Wednesday, Oct. 23. This month’s performance will be given by the J&J Jazz Duo, made up of saxophonists and University of Oklahoma students Jacob Nance and Jeffrey Stevenson.
Lunch and Listen is made possible by support from the Friends of the Norman Library group and takes place the fourth Wednesday of most months, but it’s not the only musical program presented by the library.
Sunday Serenades, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, features the talents of students from the University of Oklahoma’s School of Music. They’ll perform classical, jazz and popular selections using the library’s grand piano.
The monthly Third Friday Celtic Night takes place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, with fans of Celtic music invited to come join the performance or just enjoy the music of others.
And it’s another night of local talent a week later at Open Mic Night, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, as poets, musicians and spectators alike are invited to come and share their talent and enjoy the talent of others.
No advance registration is required for any of the activities.
