Newcastle Public Library will be closed Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28th, to complete parking lot resurfacing. We plan to resume normal hours of operation on Monday, August 29th.

"Let's Talk About It, Oklahoma" in series

AdultWorkgroupThe McLoud Public Library is part of Oklahoma Humanities' "Let's Talk About It, Oklahoma" discussion series this fall, featuring a variety of novels on the topic Oklahoma Private Investigations.

The first novel in the series is The Old Buzzard Had it Coming by Doris Casey, with the discussion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8.

Future novels and discussion dates are:

Sept. 29Letter From Home by Carolyn Hart;

Oct. 20Twisted Perception by Bob Avey;

Nov. 10The American Café by Sara Sue Hoklotubbe;

"Let's Talk About it, Oklahoma" is a presentation of Oklahoma Humanities (formerly the Oklahoma Humanities Council), which provides collections of books on a variety of themes for libraries throughout the state.

Ages 18 and up may participate. Copies of each book in the series may be checked out from the library's Information Desk. Otherwise, registration is not required in advance of the discussions.

Tuesday morning brings story time!

PlayHouseJoin a morning of stories and more geared to preschool-age children at the McLoud Public Library's Preschool Story Time, at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 6 and 20, in the Milburn Room.

Activities include not just stories, but also songs, rhymes, music and other learning activities. It's an introduction for caregivers to the resources available through the library to help their preschooler's pre-reading skills.

Registration is not required to attend the programs.
