Ravenous Readers dig into The Big Read

book jacket for A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le GuinThe McLoud Public Library invites you to bring a covered dish and a friend to the Ravenous Readers' discussion of A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21.

The discussion of this modern classic will be led by University of Oklahoma professor and award-winning author Mel Odom.

If you wish to continue your journey through Earthsea, after the discussion, the library has all six titles in the Earthsea Cycle available.

The Big Read is funded by grant support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Norman Arts CouncilOklahoma Humanities Council, the Anne and Henry Zarrow FoundationFriends of the Norman Public Library and the Pioneer Library System Foundation.

Get your garden ahead with Spring Fling

green plant in groundThe McLoud Public Library is celebrating the new season with its annual Spring Fling, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18.

Lisa Davidson, a Lowe’s Live Nursery Specialist, will talk about how to start container gardening, and George Dreiver from the Pottawatomie County OSU Extension Service, will lead a discussion on proper pruning techniques.

The day also will include information on canning and preserving. Activities are for ages 18 and up, and registration is not required to take part.


Helping readers grow at Toddler Time

The McLoud Public Library welcomes children ages 1 to 3 and their caregivers its Toddler Time story times, next taking place at 11 a.m. Tuesdays, April 14 and 28.

The program includes listening to books, singing songs, hands-on projects, and snacks.
