The Tecumseh Public Library's Elementary Homeschool Group is giving back to the community this month as it takes on a special project in its next meeting, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.
The group, for ages 6 to 12, will be crafting a "no-sew" quilt during the program. Participants will present the quilt to Sunset Estates Nursing Home on Dec. 8.
The library will provide all of the supplies for the project.
Registration is required in advance to attend.
Toddlers are the stars of the morning on Thursdays at the Tecumseh Public Library, which presents its Toddler Story Time in upcoming sessions at 11 a.m. Oct. 13, 20 and 27.
Activities are for children younger than school age and their caregivers, who will take part in an hour of stories, songs, fingerplays and crafts. It's a chance for the adults present to learn literacy tips to help their child's pre-reading skills.
Registration is not required in advance to attend.
The Tecumseh Public Library invites local teens to its continuing series Wednesday afternoon events at the library during October.
Ages 12 to 17 are invited to participate in the programs, which each begin at 4 p.m.
The schedule for October features:
Oct. 5 – littleBits, an introduction to circuits and electricity with one of the library's STEAM Power Maker Kits;
Oct. 12 – Minecraft, an afternoon of challenges, books and a craft based on the popular game;
Oct. 19 – Pumpkins, a look at creative way to decorate pumpkins for the fall;
Oct. 26 – Gaming, for ages 10 and up to relax after an afternoon of school.
Registration is required in advance separately for each program.
