The Moore Public Library, a longtime favorite for exercising your mind through reading, also gives chances to exercise your body with its free weekly Zumba classes.
Classes are scheduled at 6 p.m. on Thursday evenings the library is opened. In November, the classes are set for Nov. 3, 10 and 17. The workouts feature high-energy Latin and International music that combine dance and exercise movements.
Teens ages 12 and up or adults may participate, although a signed waiver is required before each class. Anyone under age 18 must have parent or guardian consent by signing the waiver.
While Halloween gets all the attention in America, our friends to the south in Mexico have a similar holiday they celebrate.
The Moore Public Library invites teens to learn about the Mexican culture and its Day of the Dead holiday in a program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Room B.
Participants will make a craft related to the holiday and also learn more about the cultural traditions of the holiday from books and other materials in the library collection.
Teens in 6th through 12th grades are invited to participate. So there are enough supplies on hand, registration is required in advance to attend.
Business owners have a new regulation coming into place later this year regarding overtime pay for employees.
And to make sure they have the facts on it, they're invited to come to the Moore Public Library for its upcoming workshop, "The New Overtime Rule," at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Rooms A and B.
Jessica Parker, Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist with the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, will lead the discussion, going over specifics about the new regulations, which were part of a presidential memorandum issued in 2014 that will go into effect Dec. 1, 2016.
Ages 18 and up are invited to participate, and registration is required in advance.
