McLoud Public Library will be closed Thursday, January 12th through Tuesday, January 17th, for painting.
The Pioneer Library System's STEAM Power Maker Kits have made a big splash in hometown libraries with a variety of technology and creative options.
One of the STEAM kits is a Vinyl Cutter, and the Blanchard Public Library invites teens to try it out in its Teen Vinyl Cutting program, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the library.
All materials will be provided, and the program is for ages 12 to 17.
Space for the program is limited, so registration is required to attend.
Did you know there is a National Lego Day?
There is, and the Blanchard Public Library is celebrating it with a morning of activities, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 21.
The day will feature Lego building areas, themed snacks and a showing of a Lego-themed movie. The program is for children up to age 11 and their families.
Registration is not required in advance.
The Blanchard Public Library combines art with a bilingual setting with its program ¡Viva GLART, Grow a Learner through Art! at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Activities are for ages 5 and under and their caregivers and provide a bilingual setting for learning through art play.
The ¡Viva GLART! series is part of the Pioneer Library System's Growing Like a Read initiative and were made possible from a contribution from an anonymous donor to PLS in 2015.
Registration is not required in advance to participate.
The Blanchard Public Library's monthly After School Kids and Tween Scene groups start the new year with an afternoon of Scratch Art in programs in January.
The library's After School Kids group, for pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade, meets at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, while the Tween Scene gathering is at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19. TweenScene is for students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grades.
Participants will each engage in a hands-on creative painting activity and get to take their work home at the end of the event.
Registration is required separately for each of the programs.
The Blanchard Public Library invites families with children to its Family Story Time events, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday mornings the library is open in January, on Jan. 2, 9, 23 and 30. The library will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Story times include a variety of activities, from songs, rhymes, flannel board stories, music and bubble time, as well as a part of the program dedicated to crafts, sensory activities and play time for children and families to connect with one another.
Activities are geared to children of preschool age and their caregivers. Registration is not required to attend any of the events.
