Create with K'Nex in afterschool program

The Blanchard Public Library combines the scientific world with an afternoon of entertaining play for local children in its K'Nex for Kids event, at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13.

It's a look at several simple machines and an introduction to the science that makes them go, from items like levers, pulleys, wheels and axles and inclined planes. The program is geared to ages 7 and up, although 5 and 6-year-olds are welcome with parental assistance.

Registration is not required to attend.

Afterschool groups are getting a painting lesson

Paints byJessicaLuciaThe Blanchard Public Library's monthly After School Kids and Tween Scene groups will be expressing their creativity in December at a pair of painting classes.

The library's After School Kids group, for pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade, meets at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, while the Tween Scene gathering is at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. TweenScene is for students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grades.

Participants will each engage in a hands-on creative painting activity and get to take their work home at the end of the event.

Registration is required separately for each of the programs.

Our next Lego Quest starts Dec. 6

LegoQuestThe next edition of the Blanchard Public Library's monthly Lego Quest begins at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Ages 5 and up are invited to work on Lego creations while learning some basic scientific principles through their building projects. Parent participation in the projects is encouraged.

All supplies are provided by the library, and registration is not required in advance to participate.
