Newcastle Public Library
The Newcastle Public Library’s popular therapy dog reading program continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August.
During August, four dogs – Riley, Sadie, Bubba and Maggie – will share duties at different times listening to children read. Dates and times are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28.
Parents or caregivers are asked to sign up for a time slot for their child to read to one of the dogs. The goal is to give hesitant readers a non-threatening atmosphere in which to read. Children ages 4 to 13 can take part in the program.
For more information, or to sign up for a time to read, visit the library or call 387-5076.
