Fans of Celtic music, or anyone interested in an afternoon of soothing sounds, are invited to Norman Public Library West’s 4th Sunday Celtic Session. The next edition of the monthly program will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at the library, 300 Norman Center Court.
Attendees may listen in from the library’s Café area, or bring their own acoustic instrument and join in on the session themselves.

The Pioneer Library System’s annual celebration of literature, The Big Read, gets an early start this fall with a series of art programs and a Fantasy Art Contest taking place in hometown libraries throughout the system.
The events are centered on the featured novel for the latest edition of The Big Read, “A Wizard of Earthsea,” the 1968 fantasy classic written by Ursula K. Le Guin.
Norman Public Library West continues its series of workshops with the class “Light of Earthsea,” at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the library, 300 Norman Center Court. Teens or adults can take part in the workshop.

Norman Public Library West is bringing the holiday spirit into its doors for several upcoming events. The community is invited to the library for:
McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church Handbell Choir Performance, 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 – the library welcomes in the church’s handbell choir as the group shares holiday favorites for all ages.
Holiday Sing-Along, 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 – the Norman Community Choral Society will lead the singing of traditional holiday favorites in a musical evening of family favorites.

Norman Public Library West invites families with young readers to an evening of reading with therapy dogs at the library. December reading sessions are set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 10 and 17.
Each week, the library will have a therapy dog in house to listen to young readers as they practice their reading skills. It’s a good chance to learning readers to read to a new friend in a relaxed environment in hopes of helping them gain confidence in their reading skills.
