Book group brings the latest buzz on reading

The Shawnee Public Library's Book Buzz Brunch Bunch adult book discussion group hosts its final monthly book discussion of this year at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the Conference Room of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.

Group members are invited to share their thoughts on what they have been reading during the informal book discussion group, which meets the third Friday of each month.

Library presents computer class series for beginners

The Shawnee Public Library welcomes new computer users to a three-day, three-part session of programs on beginning computer use set for Dec. 16-18 in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.

The schedule includes:

Introduction to Computers, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 – For new computer users, a look at basic terms and functions, including a lesson using a mouse.

Fabulous Fiction Finds, Dec. 2014

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Shawnee Library.  The tree is up and decorations adorn the customer service and information desks.  In the FFF corner you will find Christmas fiction on display as we near the holidays.  On one of the end displays are selections from authors similar to Debbie Macomber and on the other are books from spotlighted western author Max Brand. 

Shawnee to host ESL class series

StudentsThe Pottawatomie County Literacy Services Department is beginning a series of English as a Second Language classes for new English speakers.

The classes will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
