Authors bringing the “Double R Book Tour” to the library

treeThe Double R Book Tour is bringing stories of ghost stories and paranormal themes to libraries throughout the state, and it makes a stop at the Blanchard Public Library at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.

Oklahoma authors Sonia Gensler and Tara Hudson are the featured presenters, sharing their stories on the mystery, romance and paranormal fiction genres, their own works and the art of writing in general.

Gensler has written two young adult books, The Revenant and The Dark Between, and her first middle grade book, Ghostlight, was released in August.

Hudson is the author of the Hereafter trilogy, which follows the tale of a ghostly character named Amelia through romance and supernatural adventures.

In advance of the presentation, teens are invited to get into the “spirit” of things with a Halloween Makeup workshop starting at 4 p.m. They’ll learn about techniques for making scary faces with theater makeup and actually get to decorate each other to get just the right scary look for the authors’ presentation.

Space is limited for the makeup workshop, so registration is required.

Either teens or adults are invited to the authors’ presentation, and registration is not required for that event.

The presentation is sponsored by The Reading Trust, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma, Friends of the Oklahoma Center for the Book, Oklahoma Center for the Book, the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Best of Books. Representatives from the Blanchard Friends of the Library and the Pioneer Library System also will assist at the event.
