Afterschool groups set for October science lessons

Mom and sonThe Blanchard Public Library is turning into a science lab, of sorts, for the October meetings of its afterschool groups for elementary-age children.

The After School Kids (ASK) group, for kindergarten through second grade, meets at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, while the TweenScene group, for third through fifth grades, gets together at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23.

Each program features a science-themed book before participants will get a chance to complete several experiments.

Registration is required to attend either of the events.

These programs are made possible through the Health Literacy Grant by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Oklahoma Literacy Resource Office and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
