November brings stories, science and more for kids

Girl hugging dadThe Blanchard Public Library welcomes families with young children to experience the library’s services in many ways through a variety of programs during November.

The schedule features the following:

Family Story Time is a continuing weekly series at 10:30 a.m. on each Monday morning of the month.

The story times include not just stories but also songs, rhymes, flannel board fun, music and bubble time, as well as a section of the program for crafts, sensory activities and play time.

The library also hosts multiple afterschool events.

Lego Quest, at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, give children ages 3 to 12 a challenge to solve through Legos and creativity. Parent participation is welcomed.

ASK (Afterschool Kids), at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 is for pre-K through second grade. And Tween Scene, at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, welcomes students in third through fifth grades. Each of the programs’ November theme is Engineering, with a story and hands-on activities geared to the topic.

The library also is taking kids into the kitchen with its Kids Cooking Healthy program, at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21. Representatives from Food for Thought Learning Institute of Norman will visit with ideas for easy snacks and kid-friendly recipes to try. The activity is for ages 5 to 12
