Youngsters are learning about the library in Monday activities

Kid readingThe Blanchard Public Library welcomes young readers and families for two Monday activities geared to boosting literacy.

Family Story Time takes place at 10:30 a.m. on each Monday the library is open in January, which are Jan. 8, Jan. 22 and Jan. 29.

The story times include songs, rhymes, flannel board fun, music and bubble time, as well as sensory activities and craft projects. The story times are funded through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries with funds from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), a federal source of library funding provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Bow-Wow Books, the library’s offering for new readers to read with therapy dogs Buzz of Sully, is scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 8, 22 and 29. Parents or caregivers may schedule a 15-minute timeslot for their child to read by calling the library in advance.
