Teen volunteers sought for summer

Volunteer-bykabaldesch0The Moore Public Library gives local teens a chance to help out their hometown library while getting valuable volunteer experience by being part of its Teen Volunteer Program during the summer.

Teens entering 7th through 12th grades for the 2017-18 school year are eligible to apply to be a volunteer.

Volunteers will be helping Children and Information Services librarians with a variety of assistance during the summer months. Volunteers in the past have helped with programs, shelved teen books, created displays, and more. And at the end of summer they get to be part of an appreciation party with screen printing, pizza, free books, and more.

Applications to volunteer with the library during the Summer Reading Program are available now at the library and include the application, schedule availability, and interview questions and can be picked up at the adult and teen information services desk.

Applications are due back to the library by Monday, May 1.

Those selected will need to attend one orientation session and one training session prior to beginning their volunteer work, and be available to work at least 15 hours in both June and July. Orientation sessions will be 6 p.m. May 15 and 4 p.m. May 18. The training sessions will be 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. May 26 and 2 p.m. May 31.
