Workout classes featured during October

Yoga womanThe Moore Public Library is boosting both mental and physical well-being with its weekly series of workout classes.

Among the offerings are a new schedule for the library’s Tai Chi for Health series. Classes will be offered at 9:15 a.m. on Monday mornings, beginning Monday, Oct. 2. Tai Chi offers a low-impact activity geared to reduce stress and develop muscular strength.

More featured classes in October include:

Beginner’s Yoga - 6 p.m. on each Monday of the month, starting Oct. 2. The classes are taught by a certified YMCA instructor who will be leading the group in learning various yoga poses. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel for comfort, although there will be a limited number of mats provided. The classes are for teens age 12 and up or adults.

Zumba - 6 p.m. on each Thursday, beginning Oct. 5. The workouts feature high-energy Latin and International music that combine dance and exercise movements. Teens ages 12 and up or adults may participate.

A signed waiver is required before each class, and anyone under age 18 must have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

The classes are made possible through the Health Literacy Grant by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Oklahoma Literacy Resource Office and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
