The Moore Public Library again welcomes local volunteers that are helping taxpayers get through the income tax filing season.

The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program will be at the library beginning in February through the final date for filing person income tax returns in mid-April.

VITA volunteers will be at the library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday mornings beginning Feb. 3 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings beginning Feb. 7. The last returns will be started 30 minutes prior to the end of each session.

The service is available for taxpayers with an income of less than $56,000, and volunteers will help those taxpayers prepare their basic federal and state income tax returns.

Taxpayers are encouraged to bring: a copy of their 2016 tax return, if it is available; Social Security cards for the worker, spouse, and children born before Dec. 31, 2017; W-2 forms from all jobs; 1099 forms for any other income; IRS notices received during 2017; and Statements received from a mortgage company during 2017 (these are for itemized returns).

Returns must be filed or postmarked by Tuesday, April 17, and the final session of the VITA program at the library will be Saturday, April 14.
