Our Story Times bring more than just books

Reading bykaenieA story can take a child to another world, another time and another place while growing her mind. The Newcastle Public Library has its youngest readers in mind in several editions of Story Time throughout the month.

Preschool Story Time takes place at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays during September, on Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Activities are designed for ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers, and the programs include stories, songs and other activities.

The library also hosts a special monthly bilingual story time event, "Viva GLART! Grow a Learner Through Art" at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9. The program puts early literacy skills into practice through basic art play.

Registration is not required to take part in any of the programs, which include an introduction to the library's "Growing Like a Read" initiative for families with young children.
