Share a Story with a therapy dog at the library

DogWithChildren bykatcsendThe Newcastle Public Library welcomes young readers to the library for weekly time to read with therapy dog friends at the library on multiple occasions in January.

Share a Story with Maggie takes place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.

And two dogs will be at the library on Fridays – Maxine will listen to readers from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27, while Bubba will be at the library from noon to 2 p.m. the same days.

Young readers may bring their own books or pick from the many that are part of the library's collection. The goal of the program is to provide young readers a place to practice their reading in a non-threatening, non-judgmental environment.

Parents or caregivers are asked to set up a time slot in advance for their children to read by contacting library staff.
