Read to a therapy dog during June

Reading dogThe Newcastle Public Library welcomes young readers to the library for weekly time to read with therapy dog friends at the library on several occasions during June.

Read a Story to Maggie takes place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, June 13, 20 and 27. And the library also will have dogs at the library for Read to a Therapy Dog from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, June 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Young readers may bring their own books or pick from the many that are part of the library’s collection. The goal of the program is to provide young readers a place to practice their reading in a non-threatening, non-judgmental environment.

Parents or caregivers are asked to set up a time slot in advance for their children to read.
