Book coverThe Newcastle Public Library has multiple opportunities for book lovers to talk about what they’re reading and share their interest with others.

The library presents four book groups that meet monthly. Their schedule and topics for December are:

Brown Bag Book Discussion, 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 – This month, the library’s adult book group will have multiple holiday-inspired titles available for checkout in advance. This month’s event also will feature a potluck lunch as a celebration of the holiday season.

Tween Book Club, 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 – For ages 9 to 13, this month participants will discuss their favorite Star Wars book. There also will be a Star Wars-related craft, trivia game and book-related refreshments provided by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.

Teen Book Club, 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 – For ages 13 to 17, the group will read and discuss The Dog Who Thought He Was Santa by Bill Wallace, as well as a book of 12 holiday stories by multiple teen authors “My True Love Gave to Me,” edited by Stephanie Perkins. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.

Sci-Fi and Fantasy Book Club, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19 – This month’s title is Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb. The group is for ages 18 and up and delves into the science fiction and fantasy genres with monthly discussions.

Copies of each of the book titles are available for checkout from the front desk of the library in advance of each group meeting.

Registration is required in advance for each of the discussions.
