The Newcastle Public Library is talking reading and spreading the joy of books with its four regular book groups, which meet monthly at the library.
The book groups, their dates and topics for April’s meetings are:
Brown Bag Book Discussion, 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12 – The selected book is Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly. Ages 18 and up may attend and should bring their own lunch, with some additional refreshments provided by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.
Teen Book Club, 4 p.m. Thursday, April 12 – This month will be an end of the season party for the group, which meets during the school year. Refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.
Tween Book Club, 4 p.m. Thursday, April 12 – For ages 9 to 13, this group likewise will have an end-of-season party with snacks and games and more.
Page Turners Book Club, 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 – The library’s newest book will discuss The Boer War, a Daring Escape and the Making of Winston Churchill by Candice Millard in its April 24 meeting, and on April 17 the group will watch the 2017 movie release that looked into the life of Winston Churchill in preparation for the discussion of the book.
Copies of selected books for the discussions may be checked out at the library’s circulation desk.
