Make an escape in SMO teen presentation

Lock and keyEnjoy the challenge and entertainment of an escape room with the Newcastle Public Library and Science Museum Oklahoma’s presentation “Backstage Escape,” at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22.

Teens in grades six through 12 have a chance to test their problem-solving abilities while searching for clues and solving hidden rules, hopefully before the clock runs out on their attempted escape.

The challenge has a STEM emphasis and includes physical activity, an engineering-based component and a creative component.

Registration is required in advance to participate.

SMO will be in local libraries with presentations for multiple age groups this summer. Check at any library or online for dates and times of SMO activities.

Sponsors for this year’s Summer Reading Program are the Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, Friends of the Library groups, Hitachi Computer Products of America Inc., Institute of Museum and Library Services, Oklahoma College Savings Plan, the Pioneer Library System, Pioneer Library System Foundation, Sonic – America’s Drive-In, Corp., the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Oklahoman Newspapers in Education.
