Knitting group joins grassroots cause for Click for Babies event

knittingNorman Public Library Central and members of the Norman Knitters Anonymous group are presenting Click for Babies, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in Rooms A and B of the library.

Norman Knitters Anonymous representatives will lead anyone who attends in knitting purple hats that will be distributed to parents of newborns as a reminder of the “purple crying” period in infants and advocacy for the Click for Babies campaign. The reason for the campaign is creating awareness to frustration with infant crying, which increases at 2 weeks of age, peaks at 2 months and starts to taper off at 3 to 5 months, a period sometimes referred to as the “purple crying” period, hence the reason for the color of the caps.

The event is for ages 18 and up and registration is required. Free patterns are available, and yarn may be picked up at the L & B Yard Co., 425 W. Gray St., in Norman.

The grassroots campaign was organized through the National Center for Shaken Baby Syndrome. More information on this event is available from Lynda at 405-650-0875.
