It’s an afternoon of cultural exchange at Norman Public Library Central as it presents its Connecting Indigenous People Cultural Festival, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24.
The event will feature an art workshop, a performance by the Oklahoma Fancy Dancers, an American Indian and Buryat Dance Workshop, music performances and information about the project “Two Sides of the Globe Connecting Indigenous People: Buryat” cultural exchange visit to Oklahoma.
The Buryat Cultural Center is an Irkutsk, Russia-based non-government organization that aims to preserve Buryat national traditions, language, native art and developing contemporary living cultural traditions. The delegation will bring musicians, dancers and other artists to the event.
Presentations will take place in the library’s Lowry Room, while the art display will be set up in the Campbell Gallery Room.
All ages are invited to attend, and registration is not required in advance.
