Summer is almost here, and that means the annual Summer Reading Program bringing a jolt of activity to the community through the activities at Norman Public Library Central.
This year’s theme, “Libraries Rock!” is giving a chance to explore literal rocks with the Museum of Osteology or PLS Maker Mobile staff to “rocking” with music and art programs led by a variety of local performers.
Norman Central kicks an SRP Kickoff Event the afternoon of May 29 before its schedule ramps up the following week. Children and families can take part in a Microphone Bookmark Craft from 2 to 4 p.m.
A week later, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, teens ages 12 to 17 can attend the “Taste of Books,” which pairs literature and good food for attendees. Also, the program “Rainbow Pop-top Bracelets” is scheduled for teens at the same time.
The library will host special performances for children up to age 11 at 2 p.m. each Monday from June 4 through Aug. 6. Teens ages 12 to 17 will have activities at 2 p.m. on each Tuesday afternoon during July.
