The Friends of the Norman Library has scheduled its annual Better Book Sale for May 1-3, in the Lowry Room of Norman Public Library Central.
Admission is free, but hours vary by day of the sale.
Friday, May 1: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday, May 2: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, May 3: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Items will be discounted 50 percent, with some exceptions.)
“Better Books” are those especially selected for reader interest, appearance, and condition. Browsers will find large coffee table volumes along with books relating to Oklahoma, western Americana, Native Americans, American literature, and many University of Oklahoma Press titles.
This year’s offerings include an excellent selection of history, and military history. Children’s books and vintage magazines will also be available. Shoppers will enjoy hunting for first editions, hard-to-find out-of-print titles, and the occasional rare book. While some books are priced higher, buyers will find most books are in the $2 to $5 range.
The library benefits from the proceeds of the sale in Friends’ support of programs. Buyers also may make cash donations and join the Friends of the Norman Public Library.
