Build a Better World through service projects

SRP logoThis year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Build a Better World,” and Norman Public Library West seeks to do just that with a three-part series of craft events to give back to the community.

Either children or teens may participate in each week’s activity, with the goal to produce items to donate to local organizations. The schedule features:

July 13, 2 p.m.Placemats for Food & Shelter – Participants will work to craft reusable placemats for the Norman-based organization Food & Shelter.

July 20, 2 p.m. – Dog Toys for Second Chance – Create a toy for one of the shelter animals at the Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.

July 27, 2 p.m. – No-slip Socks for Brookhaven – Use puffy paint and other materials to make special socks for the residents at Brookhaven Retirement Community.

All supplies will be provided for each project. Registration in advance is required for each of the events.
