Look to the past at Medieval Fair lecture series

AudienceNorman Public Library West welcomes the Medieval Fair Free Lecture Series for a presentation at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

The presentation “Science, Sheep Gut, and Souls: A Brief History of Medieval and Renaissance Strings” will be led by Dr. John McWilliams. He will discuss the various types of stringed instruments and their origins, traditions and history.

Dr. McWilliams has been reconstructing early stringed instruments for more than 20 years and will bring several of the replicas for audience members to view and play.

The presentation is for ages 18 and up and is co-sponsored by the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Oklahoma and the Medieval Fair of Norman. Registration is not required in advance to attend.
