Youngsters can start the new year with the library

Cinderella coverNorman Public Library West welcomes families with young children to the library for several story times and activities throughout January.

At 10 a.m. on Tuesday mornings, the library presents its weekly Story Time, Budding Bookworms. The event features books, songs, rhymes and stories geared to children ages 5 and under and their caregivers.

Each Thursday at 5:30 p.m. is “Sit! Stay! Read!” which gives a chance for new readers to gain confidence in their skills by reading to therapy dogs in a non-threatening environment. Registration is preferred for a time to read to a dog but not required.

Also, the library’s monthly Science Story Time, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, focuses in on the classic Cinderella. After reading the fairy tale, participants will create a wind-powered coach for Cinderella. The program is for ages 3 to 8 and registration in advance is required.
