The City of Shawnee is into Phase II of its Downtown Streetscape Project, which has brought about the closure of Main Street directly south of the Shawnee Public Library. While that may cause some changes for getting to the library, there will be no change in the library's schedule or services available.
The library, 101 Philadelphia Ave., will remain open during its full hours while the work is done along Main Street, which began Monday, July 18 and is expected to take about 180 days to complete. During this time, Main Street will be closed between Bell and Oklahoma Avenues.
The main parking lot north of the library will be open throughout the project, as well as the outdoor book drop adjacent to that parking lot. The lot also has multiple parking spaces for people with disabled parking permits.
The parking lot can be accessed from the north of the library, off of Philadelphia or Oklahoma Avenues, or East 9th Street.
Library hours will not be affected during the work.
