The Shawnee Public Library tackles the topic of homelessness through the work of local artists and community discussion in its upcoming Owning Poverty: Creative Responses to Homelessness in Our Community program and art exhibit.
An opening presentation to debut the artwork, contributed by a number of local artists, is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 23, in Community Rooms A and B.
The event will include a roundtable discussion focusing on problems, current actions and new ideas for addressing homelessness and poverty in the community.
The artwork will be displayed in the library during the weekend through Sunday, March 26.
Registration is not required in advance to attend the opening, and all ages are invited.
