Writers invited to three-part series

Typewriter bytookapicFind inspiration and ideas to move forward in writing a novel with the Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library and its upcoming three-part series for writers, in September, October and November, at the library.

The series begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, with "Finding an Agent." A panel group will give their ideas for finding a literary agent and answer questions on their experiences. Rene Gutteridge, local award-winning bestselling author, will be part of the panel.

"Designing Covers," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, features author Wilette Youkey, who will present on the elements of coming with a great cover for a book. The presentation includes such topics as what makes good design, designing for the genre of a book and typography, with examples of covers that work and some that miss the mark.

The series concludes with "Character Development," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. The program is presented by Kim Ventrella, author of The Skeleton Tree, who will talk to fiction writers on developing characters with depth.

The series is for either adults or teens ages 12 and up.

Registration is encouraged in advance as space will be limited.
