Writing series focus shifts to book covers

Books byUnsplashThe Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library continues its three-part writing series in October with a shift in direction from words to the artwork on the cover that first can hook a reader.

"Designing Covers," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, features author Wilette Youkey, who will present on the elements of coming with a great cover for a book. The presentation includes such topics as what makes good design, designing for the genre of a book and typography, with examples of covers that work and some that miss the mark.

The series concludes with “Screen Writing,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, as author Rene Gutteridge provides and overview on resources on getting started and finding jobs in screenwriting. Gutteridge has written 24 multi-genre novels and collaborated in both fiction and film works, novelizing six screenplays and movies.

The series is for either adults or teens ages 12 and up.

Registration is encouraged in advance as space will be limited.
