In March 2012, the Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library opened its doors to expand library service throughout the area.
Now the library is turning 5, and it's time for a community celebration. "Happy Birthday, Celebrating Five Years of Innovation," is a come-and-go event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1. It will feature a special singing of "Happy Birthday" at 5 p.m.
Attendees can enjoy crafts, games, pizza, cupcakes and more, as well as getting tours of the library as staff looks forward to the next five years in Southwest Oklahoma City.
Also, the Pioneer Library System's Maker Mobile will visit for the event. The Maker Mobile features many science and technology education items, including a three-dimensional printer and scanner, CNC milling machine, laser cutter and laptops, as well as Wi-Fi access and an informational touchscreen television that will allow customers to learn about the library's downloadable collection through OverDrive and many other online features.
All ages are invited to attend. Registration is required in advance to participate.
