Celebrate Dr. Seuss, stories and more during March

BoyReading2The Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library provides a variety of age-appropriate programs and activities for children and families throughout the week along with its vast collection of books and materials for checkout.

A special event this month is a Dr. Seuss Party, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9. The program celebrates the life and books of Dr. Seuss, with games and crafts related to the famous children's author. All ages are invited to attend and encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.

More activities scheduled at the library in March, by age group, include:

Family Music Time (for younger children) – 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1

Toddler Story Time and Play (ages 1-3) – 10 and 11 a.m. Thursdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30

After School Kids (Pre-K through 3rd grade) – 4:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 2 and 16 (Registration required in advance)

Family Story Time and Craft (all ages) – 10 and 11 a.m. Mondays, March 6, 13 and 27

Baby Lapsit (ages 15 month and under) – 10 a.m. Tuesdays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28

Lego Quest (ages 5-12) – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7

Family Play Time/La Hora de Jugar en Familia (for ages 5 and under) – 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11

TweenScene (ages 7 to 12) – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 and 28

TLC (Touch, Learn and Create) (ages 2 to 6) – 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15

Sensory Story Time (ages 11 and under, geared to children prone to sensory overload, on the autism spectrum or have trouble with big crowds) – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21

Red Cross Pillowcase program (for all ages) – 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23
