Award-winning author to give Black History Month presentation

HandsThe Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library is giving children a lesson in Black History Month at its program “Kids Celebrate Black History,” at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, in Rooms A and B.

Award-winning author Gwendolyn Hooks will present about her book If You Were a Kid in the Civil Rights Movement, and the first 30 children in attendance will receive a free copy of the book.

She will read some of her favorite books related to African American History, and there also will be a related craft program.

The program has been made possible thanks in part to donations to the Pioneer Library System Foundation. Registration is not required to attend.
