Library Closings

  • Jan. 13-26 - Norman Library closed for renovations
  • Jan. 20 - All Libraries closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Happy New Year, Visitor!

True Grit by Charles Portis is this year's Big read title. It is a story of justice, vengence, and redemption told through the eyes of Mattie Ross.

At only 14 years old, Mattie goes on a quest to find Tom Chaney, the man who murdered her father. She is joined by Rooster Cogburn, a one-eyed U.S. Marshall, and LaBoeuf, a Texas Ranger tracking Chaney for another murder. Together, but with very different motivations, the three ride into the wilderness of the Oklahoma Territory to confront Ned Pepper's gang, harboring Chaney.

PLS libraries are celebrating True Grit, with events, book discussions, and Little Read activities for children.

The PLS Big Read will culminate April 12, 2014 with a family fair and Wild West Show presented as part of the Norman 89er Day celebration.
