March 2011

The year is marching on and we find ourselves in the midst of Spring. We have big things planned for the Big Read 2011 and we hope you can join us. Coming soon to a computer near you are Disney book classics. And take a moment to help us with our Virtual Library planning. Scroll down to see what else we have in store.

Hello Visitor,

You are cordially invited!

Author Tim Obrien

Join us for the Big Read kick off celebration featuring the announcement of the Winner of the Songwriting Challenge Friday March 11 7pm at the Norman Depot. The winning songs were inspired by the spirit of the novel and will be performed before an audience for the first time - where the songwriters will be awarded their prize.

After the kick off you can attend a Scholar Panel Dicussion, local book discussion, a movie event at the Warren Theater featuring Forrest Gump, and even meet author Tim O'Brien.

For more information about these events and more check out and the Spring 2011 issue of Word Magazine. If you belong to a book club or would like to start a discussion group call 701-1839 or 701-1849 to reserve a The Things They Carried book discussion kit for your group.

Disney Book Logo

Starting March 3rd you will be able to access almost 700 new and classic Disney titles on any Windows PC or Mac with your library card from the OverDrive section on our website.

Follow along with the Look and Listen books featuring music, voices and sound effects or read some Disney Classics and click to hear the words pronounced or look them up in the built in dictionary.

Because these books are always available you will never have to wait for an item on hold!

Look for the Disney Digital banner on the OverDrive website to browse the collection as soon as it is available

Flowers are blooming and the songs of birds can be heard in the air - it means Spring is here!

Why not take a break from Spring cleaning and stop by the library for some great activities?
