The Wizard of Oz: Wonderful for 75 years

On August 25th  MGM's version of The Wizard of Oz will be 75 years old! On that date in 1939, the movie had its national debut. Of course we've got the movie and the original L. Frank Baum books. He wrote fourteen of his own, inspring other authors to continue his tale  Look below for a sample of modern adaptations and stories -- true or not -- that only exist because of Dorothy and her friends.

Judy Garland performs this radio version of the Wizard of Oz. Lux Radio Theatre was known for big budget shows with popular 1930s Hollywood stars.

As war threatens to destroy Oz, a Wicked legacy may be the only thing that can save the land.  This final book of the Wicked Years series features Dorothy and a certain green girl who may be familiar to those who have read the prior books.  The series began with Wicked, then was followed by Son of a Witch and A Lion Among Men.
