Happy Holidays! All hometown libraries will close at 6 pm on December 23 and will be closed all day on December 24 and 25. We will reopen for regular hours on December 26. Have a great holiday and check out these winter books to share with your family!

Winter by Sian Smith

Norman & Purcell Public Meetings to Consider Library Plans

Construction hatPioneer cities Norman and Purcell held public meetings October 5, 6 and 7 to hear presentations by architect Jeffrey Scherer, FAIA, MSRDesign, Minneapolis. Scherer is updating the master plan for the City of Norman’s libraries and developing a plan for the City of Purcell.

More than 100 citizens viewed and discussed site concept drawings for a Norman Central Library on a site at Acres and James Garner Avenue and a Norman East Library on Alameda between 24th and 36th at three public meetings on October 5 and 6. Presentation slides may be viewed on the City of Norman website. Scherer will present his report to the Norman City Council on Tuesday, November 4.

October has finally arrived, and we would like to celebrate some birthdays with you all! Some great literary characters are celebrating another year of life, so check out some of the stories they star in and appreciate what they bring to the tales!

Professor Minerva McGonagall - October 4th

Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone by J.K. Rowling

After 10 miserable years with his aunt and uncle, Harry Potter, a young boy with a great destiny, is rescued from their outrageous neglect and is invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Each book follows another year in Harry's education while more of his frightening destiny is revealed. Professor McGonagall in all of her glory and maternal qualities is introduced in the first installment of Rowling's Harry Potter series.

Winnie the Pooh - October 14th

Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne

The adventures of Christopher Robin and his friends, in which Pooh Bear uses a balloon to get honey, Piglet meets a Heffalump, and Eeyore has a birthday. Winnie the Pooh is a wonderful, sweet bear who loves and cares for his friends, but often gets into sticky situations.

With the version 3.2 update the OverDrive app for Android, iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), and Windows 8 will no longer require Adobe Authorization when setting up the app on your device. Instead you will create an OverDrive account for authorization that will also allow your progress to sync across multiple devices.
