It's almost time to launch our big summer event. Are you excited? We sure are! To get everyone involved, each hometown library will be hosting their own annual kick-off events. We don't want you to miss the fun, so we've provided the dates and times of each library's big event, as well as information about the special activities. We hope to see all of your smiling faces.

Blanchard - Tues., May 26th from 10:00am to 7:00pm

The Blanchard Library is celebrating its fifth year of summer events in the "new" library building. Stop by to sign the Library's birthday card and get a treat! Children, teens, and adults may also sign up for the Summer Reading Program and discover all of the fun events planned for June and July. Children may select a paper or online reading log to track their summer reading. Teens and Adults may track their reading online. Let's make this the best summer yet!

McLoud - Weds., June 3rd from 10:00am to 1:00pm

Ages 9 to 18 are invited to join the "fishing clinic" and learn to tie knots, cast and fish identification...the basics of fishing! Registration and waivers are required, and space is limited. Fishing poles and lunch are provided.

Moore - Sat., May 30th from 10:00am to 12:00pm

Start the summer with our annual Summer Reading Kickoff. Everyone will gather at the Moore City Hall at 10am and parade to the library where other fun filled festivities will begin.

Newcastle - Fri., May 29th from 10:00am to 11:30am

Kick off the Summer Reading Program with The OKC Rolling Thunder Book Bus. The first 75 children will receive a number to enter the Rolling Thunder Book Bus. We will have games, crafts, and flying superhero photo opportunities while the children wait their turn to enter the bus. Come join the fun. Watch Out! There may be a special guest. Enjoy FREE hot dogs with all the fixings and drinks provided by Republic Services, Sonic of Newcastle, and Friends of the Newcastle Public Library! Also, a "Thank You" to Community Bank and the City of Newcastle for making our Kick-off Super!

Noble - Mon., June 1st from 11:30am to 12:00pm

Immediately following our Magic program, we'll have hero masks to make and summer reading forms to start your summer reading goals!

Norman Central & Norman West - Tues., May 26th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's the SUMMER READING PROGRAM! This year's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story." So, dress as your favorite superhero and join us at the Norman Central branch for a Superhero Read-In. Kids can sign up for the summer reading program and get started on their summer reading goals with some every day superheroes! The summer reading program begins on Tuesday, May 26th. Reading logs may be turned in beginning July 1st. Reading logs will be accepted through Wednesday, August 19th.

Purcell - Fri., May 29th from 10:30am to 12:00pm

Everyone come and meet our Community Heroes. Local fire department, law enforcement, emergency services, and military personnel will be available to meet. Attendees will have the opportunity to try on their gear and take a look at the emergency vehicles that will be on site. Parents bring your camera, because there will be plenty of photo ops. Free snow cones will also be provided. Kids set your reading goal for the summer, get a bag with your reading log, stickers, bookmarks and a free book. Adults and Teens can register for the Summer Reading Program to get reading incentives.

Shawnee - Mon., June 1st from 9:00am to 9:00pm

This year's theme is "Every Hero Has a Story." Children will receive their Sonic book bag, bookmarks, reading log, and stickers when they sign up

SOKC - Sat., May 30th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Kick off the Summer Reading Program with amazing superhero crafts, games and activities for children. There will be a superhero photo booth, blacklight play room, face painting, library tours, and so much more at this come and go event. Parents stick around for car seat safety information, healthy road trip snacks, and information on downloading e-materials to entertain the whole family on those long summer adventures. Children, teens and adults can also sign up for the 2015 Summer Reading Program, Every Hero Has a Story.

Tecumseh - Thurs., May 28th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Join our super hero summer reading kickoff for children, teens, and adults. We'll celebrate the beginning of summer with games, entertainment, food, and great handouts when you sign up to read this summer. We'll honor local heroes from the fire and police departments who will answer questions about their jobs and have fire trucks and police cruisers on display. Don't miss out on a super hero summer!
