As Downtown Shawnee continues to grow and revitalize, the Shawnee Public Library continues its role as a community leader through its programs and services offered for all ages of readers.
Through its vast collection, plus access to a total of 700,000 books and downloadables available through the Pioneer Library System, the library gives those interested in virtually every genre something.
And program opportunities will abound for all ages. That starts from the library’s youngest visitors with a variety of story times and activities. Twice a week, we present Preschool Story Time at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the library, then at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at Shawnee Mall.
And September marks the debut of a new 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning story time for families with infants and an afterschool series at 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays that will bring a focus on technology, art and other hands-on activities.
The Shawnee library also has been a big part of the City of Shawnee’s Blue Zones initiative. The library has hosted a variety of book discussion, speaker presentations and other activities relating to Blue Zones, which Shawnee has participated in as a city since 2017.
And there is a lot more, including dedicated programming options for teens and adults throughout the year. Find out about everything going on this month and beyond in Shawnee through the online calendar or pick up a copy of our physical calendar inside the library.
