Make your own keepsake from a great Summer Learning Challenge!

Summer l0goThe year 2019 has marked a historic Summer Learning Challenge in the Pioneer Library System, as readers earned more than five million points through activities like reading books and taking part in library programs and presentations throughout May, June and July.

So, pat yourselves on the back for great work! And now, get ready to celebrate the milestone. As a bonus for reaching the three-million point mark, libraries will have a mini-printing press available for readers to make prints to commemorate this year’s Summer Learning Challenge.

Get a good look at what the press can do by checking out this video put together by our Maker Mobile staff!

The press will be available at the following libraries on these dates:

Aug. 1-14: Moore, Norman East, Norman West, Purcell, Shawnee, Tecumseh

Aug. 15-29: Blanchard, McLoud, Newcastle, Noble, Norman Central, Southwest Oklahoma City

As a reward to PLS communities for reaching this year’s initial goal of one million points earned, more than 3,000 books will be purchased and donated to children throughout the library’s three-county area. PLS is working directly with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, McClain County Health Department and Cleveland County Health Department to distribute the books during the next year.

The book donations were funded by the Pioneer Library System Foundation, Cynthia Cooper and the Oklahoma Electric Cooperative.
