The Moore community rocked 20.4 million steps this summer!

Mountain ClimberAll the steps are taken and all the numbers counted, and the Moore Public Library’s Rock Mount Moore Pedometer Challenge has totaled 20.4 million steps by participating customers this summer!

As a reference, that adds up to roughly 4,500 to 5,000 miles, give or take a few based on how long a person’s stride is. That’s a walk all the way from the front door of the library to Juneau, Alaska. And back!

The library wants to thank all the customers who participated and helped exceed the goal of 15 million steps. Also, congratulations go out to prize drawing winners and thanks to the sponsors who supported the challenge: Orr Family Farm, The Station (City of Moore) and JumpZone! OKC.

Financial assistance for this special project was made possible with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
