The Newcastle Public Library invites local teens and adults to a literal blastoff in its Summer Learning Program. The event “Rockets! We Have Liftoff!” is set for two separate presentations – an event for ages 18 and up at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4; and the same program, offered for ages 12 to 17, at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28, inside and outside of the library.
Under the direction of a representative from Science Museum Oklahoma, participants will build a rocket kit and then take the rockets outside to launch them. The program also gives an opportunity to learn about the history and science of rockets.
Participation is limited to 12 people, so advance registration is required.
Sponsors for this year’s Summer Learning Program are the Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation, Friends of the Library groups, Hitachi Computer Products of America (Inc.), Institute of Museums and Library Services, Oklahoma College Savings Plan, Pioneer Library System, Pioneer Library System Foundation, Sonic, Oklahoma Department of Libraries and the Oklahoman Newspapers in Education.
