Norman Central to offer STEM clubs for teens and kids during spring

Norman Public Library Central will continue to offer its popular STEM clubs this spring for teens and kids who want to learn more about technology. Applications are required for each club, and you can apply for multiple clubs.

Girls Who Code, open to girls in grades 6th through 12th, will meet Tuesdays beginning February 5 through May 7, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Girls Who Code is a national organization which gives girls friendship and the knowledge to code. Any teen girl who is interested may apply to be accepted in this program by completing this Girls Who Code application.

The Future, open to kids in grades 2nd through 5th, will meet Mondays OR Wednesdays beginning February 4 through May 8, from 3 pm to 4 pm OR 4 pm to 5 pm each day, for a total of four separate sessions. This club will teach kids about all sorts of cool electronics and coding activities. Kids who are interested in this program may apply by completing this The Future application. You can apply for any of the sessions, but will be able to attend only one.

Younger Girls Who Code, open to girls in grades 2nd through 5th, will meet Tuesdays beginning February 5 through May 7, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. Just like the Girls Who Code club, this club will also introduce young girls to coding. Girls who are interested in this program may apply by completing this Younger Girls Who Code application.

Middle School Movie Makers, open to teens in grades 6th through 9th, will also meet Tuesdays beginning February 5 through May 7, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. This club is for students to work with friends to make a short movie using the library’s state-of-the-art movie production equipment. Movie makers will write, storyboard, film, act, direct, edit, and screen a short movie. Teens who are interested in this program may apply by completing this Middle School Movie Makers application.

Movie Makers club, open to teens in grades 9th through 12th, will meet Mondays beginning February 4 through May 6, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. This club is for older students to work with friends to make a short movie using the library’s state-of-the-art movie production equipment. Movie makers will write, storyboard, film, act, direct, edit, and screen a short movie. Teens who are interested in this program may apply by completing this Movie Makers application. 9th graders may apply for either the Middle School Movie Makers or the Movie Makers club.

Game Developer's Club, open to teens in grades 6th through 9th, will meet Wednesdays beginning February 6 through May 8, from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. This club will let you create your own 2D, 3D and Virtual Reality (VR) video games. Teens who are interested in this program may apply by completing this Game Developer's Club application.
