Spend Spring Break with a STEAM Break

STEAM graphicNorman Public Library West dives into the elements of the library STEAM programs – science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics – during a series of programs scheduled during Spring Break, March 18-22.

It’s a chance to use some of the library’s STEAM kits and other sources for creative purposes. Times, topics and specifics on the programs include:

Squishy Circuits, 11 a.m. Monday, March 18Ages 9 to 12 will learn about basic circuits by using conductive dough.

Magazine Wall Art, 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 19Teens will take rolled magazine pages and turn them into new artistic creations.

Lego WeDo, 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20 – Code, build and collaborate with the library’s Lego WeDo 2.0 sets in an activity for tweens.

Vinyl Stickers, 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21Teens will use a Vinyl Cutter to cut a design made using computer software. Each attendee will get to go home with their own unique vinyl stickers.

Celtic Knot Rocks, 2 p.m. Friday, March 22Ages 9 and up can etch Celtic knots onto rocks using the library’s Laser Cutter and take home their one-of-a-kind piece of rock art.
