Get ready for spring with the library!

Cat in the Hat coverSpringtime is almost here, and the Southwest Oklahoma City Public Library is getting into the spirit of the season with a busy slate of activities for families with children at the library during March.

A special program kicking off the month is “Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss,” taking place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2. The event is for all ages of children and celebrates to career of the legendary children’s author on what would have been his birthday. There will be Dr. Seuss stories, crafts and activities, as well as Grinch pancakes for all who attend.

Also featured during March are:

Preschool Story Time, 10 a.m. Fridays, March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 – Ages 3 to 6 can experience the library through stories, music and other activities;

Little Movers Story Time, 10 a.m. Mondays, March 4, 11, 18 and 25 – Stories, activities and more for ages 18 to 36 months;

Early Explorers, 11 a.m. Mondays, March 4, 11, 18 and 25Ages 1 to 4 will build early literacy, motor and math skills through a variety of activities;

Baby Lapsit, 10 a.m. Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28Babies up to 18 months old and their caregivers will experience stories, rhymes and songs;

Tween STEAM, 4:30 p.m. Thursdays, March 7 and 21Ages 8 to 11 experience a variety of STEAM activities. Advance registration is required;

STEAM Club Jr., 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 12 and 26 – Hands-on STEAM activities for ages 5 to 7. Advance registration is required;

Touch, Learn and Create: Ocean Animals, 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20Ages 2 to 6 can experience a variety of activities. The theme this month is "Ocean Animals."

Design Squad, 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 22 and 29 – Homeschoolers ages 6 to 11 will take part in projects while partnering with other students from different parts of the world via teleconferencing. Advance registration is required.
